Information about the book   

The story was created from years of summer afternoons by the pool with my grandkids and their friends. Our neighbors big old Oak Tree is there on the other side of the fence.  From this the kids and I manufactured the story of the Land of Wind Fairies.  In summer the thunderheads rise high from the east and we envisioned little tiny Wind Fairies in the clouds and the bushes, flowers and of course their home the Old Oak Tree next door in my neighbors yard.  As we swam and played in the pool the kids and I created many stories using our imagination about the Wind Fairies and all the creatures and the mission of the Wind Fairies. The Wind Fairies' Mission is the first in the series of many adventures the kids share together.  Look for the next book in the series The Potions and the Rope.  

Before the kids transform into Wind Fairies: From out of the book:   

“Everyone, out!” Amelia commanded. Above them, the big thunderheads moved fast and the wind began to dance with shining, swirling colors.

A deep rumble rolled through the backyard as the kids scrambled to get out of the pool. Suddenly, a flash of lightning lit up the sky and they watched as leaves spun in magical spirals and sparkles formed in the air.

Around the house, the storm winds spun faster—faster—until dazzling white lightning wrapped around each child.

And then—

FLASH!

They vanished

Here are descriptions for when the human kids are transformed into Wind Fairies and land in the Old Oak Tree to go on their Mission to save the tree - from right out of the book:

Amelia’s dress shone yellow and red with sparkles and silken wings that glittered in the light. She carried a wand with a star on it, her own secret weapon to do magic.


She glanced around to find Charlie and there he stood with new wings.


Charlie seemed older than his age, with bravery his best power. His clothes sparkled shiny bold red and blue with big yellow wings. He wore his baseball hat and carried his walking stick. Charlie pointed his stick and said with a big, gruff voice, “I am ready for the bad guys.”


Amelia looked around and saw Lily whose dress shone pink and blue with pink and blue wings that glittered.

Lily still seemed her gentle and protective self and she had promised Grandma, “I will make sure to get us all home. And I will!”


Then Amelia spotted Zoe, whose lavender and blue dress and yellowish wings gleamed with yellow and purple sparkles. Zoe was super practical and could see the humor in things. Aren't we all just the picture of little fairies? Zoe smiled to herself and thought, Well, just don't mess with us!


Amelia smiled when she saw Athena, who had her own magic. Her fingertips lit up with light. We will need those fingertips, she thought.


Athena's dress glowed in yellow and orange and blue and gold colors and her tiny wings glowed the same colors. I can just feel the magic around here, Athena thought to herself.

Oh, how exciting!
Finally, Amelia’s eyes settled on Jay who wore greens and reds with his “wonder wings” that could change size and colors. Jay liked to act like a clown and make people laugh. He danced around and showed off his wonder wings, flying up and down.
